Hi,

I thought after getting to know some of you last night I'd get a profile of my own.

As you all know I am live-love-laughs OH. I'm a equine veterinary surgeon, I became a director at the practice a couple of years into the job. I live local to the practice on a small farm where I mainly have a few sheep, goats and couple of dogs. I plan to expand in the upcoming months to house equestrian facilities for the OH's horses.

Anyway I'm sure you've already heard enough about me from the Mrs so I will leave it there.

Welcome, you sound too good to be true!!! Be prepared, mostly female forum so you poor men are in the minority.

Many congratulations again on your engagement.

Being nosey, do you ride or currently own a horse? (if not I am sure your lovely OH will put that right soon hehe)

How is the Mrs? On the up I hope.

Ah something I'm very much used too, I'm the only male member of staff in my practice.

I don't own a horse, although the Mrs has five so would never be short of one if I did wish to have one. Why she need's five horses I don't think I will ever understand! I don't know where I would actually find the time for a horse of my own.

She's doing better thank you, she's being a mare and is still refusing to eat/drink. I have told her she'll be kept in for longer if she doesn't eat something!

She really has been through the mill! I can reassure you 5 horses is perfectly normal..... Honest!!! I have 3, 2 broken 1 ridden! My oh isn't horsey so when faced with a third was quite bemused, explained unless he could being himself to pts one of the others or I just looked after said field ornaments and never rode then 3 it was!

Are you also on horse duty with the Mrs on box rest?

Good evening Mr Vet, you must advise Mrs Vet that you will tube her if she refuses to eat and drink. I hope she improves rapidly and that the NHS treats her well.

You might regret admitting to us all that you are an equine vet, that status is god like to us lot !

She'll be having no more! I'm giving her enough space for the five at home, no more!! When the time comes for any to retire then they can be turned out to grass and then I MIGHT just consider a replacement.

I certainly am, I've enlisted help for the bringing in shift so I can spend longer at the hospital right now. I need more hours in the day I swear!

AdorableAlice - So far the NHS have treated her very well, I'm sure she'll say different as they are ignoring her requests to be let home. Haha I'll happily try and give advise on minor things but will always recommend speaking to your own vets who personally know your horse/horses.

The Fuzzy Furry - She's certainly making me want to pull my hair out in regards to not eating! Maybe you lot will stand more chance getting her to eat, she doesn't want to listen to me when I say she'll be admitted for a lot longer if she won't eat anything! But then complains that she wants to be discharged and be at home with me!

Woman, don't think us men will ever fully understand you lot!!

Having experienced the NHS food recently I can understand the lack of appetite, throw in anxiety and feeling somewhat SH one T is is tricky to eat. But, as I found to my cost, no food means plummeting BP, and low BP means they won't let you go home.

Welcome Mr Vet.

Can't we club together and send some of PP's choc for the "Mrs"?

And as for having five, my hubby despairs at my growing brood. It's partly his fault, he gave me some money and I got a mare with foal at foot. He met me when I had one, now have 8! :)
