Like Cobbum I have got back into riding after nearly forty years. I have been riding a friend's horse on and off a couple of times a month for a couple of years but last year decided to buy my own. As a child / teenager I had my own ponies and rode others but I now have a 16.2 horse who is very different. Much has changed since I rode regularly in the 1970's and I have benefitted hugely from lessons with an excellent teacher. Not planning anything too major just trying to improve my riding for Ed, my horse and for my own enjoyment, development and satisfaction. I have had a few ups and downs with a major confidence wobble last Christmas but feel very positive and confident currently thanks to my teacher and friends.

Welcome. I'm another one that returned after a break of 30 yearns. As you say, much has changed - and I'm glad that I don't have to wrestle with impossibly heavy when wet turnout rugs anymore :)

I found one old horse rug at my parents house which was made of coarse blanket with scratchy hairs, probably like the ones we had on our beds !!!!
