Hi, my love of horses began when I was about two years old. I had many riding lessons as a child and loved it! I still adore horses now almost sixty years on. Sadly, I had a bad accident when riding as a teenager and I lost a lot of confidence. I did ride from time to time after the accident, but it wasn't the same being a bag of nerves. I've never lost my longing to ride again and the last time I rode was over thirty years ago and not sure I ever will again at this time of my life, but I'd love to. It was always my dream to own my own horse and I never fulfilled that dream. It's definitely on my bucket list, but the older I'm getting the less likely I am to achieve it although I now have more time as I'm retired. I still feel privileged to have learnt to ride and to have spent my time with some very wonderful horses and ponies.

Hello DH,
I’m 66, started riding again 4 years ago after a gap of over 40 years so please don’t say never!
Is there a good riding school near you? Could you try just one lesson?
Like you I won’t ever fulfil the dream of owning a horse, but just spending time with them, riding, grooming and suchlike is worth the world.
Good luck ?
