Hi all, we are brand new to not only this site but also to owning our first horse.
Trepidation mixed with excitement would sum me up, bought Coco for my daughter whose horse bonkers, where as I no absolutely nothing.
Anyway, no doubt I will be diving in to utilise all you experts with a bunch of stupid questions and will hopefully hit the ground running.
Thanks all Coco’s Dad..

Hello and welcome to the forum!

Horse ownership is a wonderful thing - and just remember, there is no such thing as a stupid question. :)
I’ve already embarrassed my daughter greatly, I didn’t realise horses slept standing up, I thought the “extremely posh no sense of humour” lady was having me on ??‍♂️..

Hello gorgeous Coco, Dad and very lucky daughter! How old iare your daughter and new 'grandhorse' Mr Cocos' Dad? Please feel free anytime to PM me if you think of anything you'd like to ask away from the forum, anytime... most people on the forum are lovely and supportive to newbies , but there might be one or two that aren't so nice, just like in real life!

Oh, and yes horses can and do 'doze' a lot standing up, but don't be alarmed if in time you find Coco flat out , when relaxed they can and do sleep lying down too ?

They do, but they also need types of sleep they can only get lying down, so if a horse never lies down, it can start collapsing. There, you know everything about horse sleep now ?

There is a user called Darbs who was in your situation many years back with a younger daughter than yours at the start, about the same age now, and has been on the forum for the whole journey. You can contact him by PM, using the envelope symbol top left on the screen of you want to try picking his brains.

PS I love your avatar! I think I would add, 'and pay'.

Pay for sure, so many extras I didn’t realise, luckily for me my daughter is writing a list ??
