Just a quick post to introduce myself.
I have been reading this forum for a while now and guesss I had better be polite and make myself known!
This is the forum I seem to be drawn to, you all seem very friendly and knowledgable on here.
I don't have a stud on a large scale like some of the other posters, but do breed a couple of foals a year and, as I am sure you have guessed from my username, yes they are britishwarmbloods!
I think I have done this correctly (?) but hopefully I have posted some piccies of this years two little girls below.

Thank you - I love them both, but am of course very biased!
The first is by Sunny Boy (Sandro Hit x Donnerhall x Pik Bube)
out of a Demonstrator x TB mare.
The second is by Daddy Cool (Don Davidoff x Calido x Sandro) out of a West Country x Atlantus x Schwendgruss mare.

Lovely foals you have, i have always liked Sunny Boy but have never quite got around to using him, did think about Daddy Cool aswell but could only get frozen and was risking that with another mare..anyhow nice foals and bloodlines. I think i could count on one hand the numeber of posts i have done in the other forums, the breeding one is the best

What lovely foals!

You are right - this is by far the nicest forum on here; people are very knowledgeable (except me

) and very friendly, helpful and courteous to one another. I don't think I've ever seen any of the unpleasantness one finds on so many forums.

There are plenty of small-scale breeders on here, as well as some very big impressive studs. And the 'big guys' don't put on any airs and graces - it's all very democratic! I'm just a novice newbie with one stallion and no mares, but I've never been made to feel small.

Well done for sticking your head up above the parapet and posting

Interested in you saying that you breed british warmbloods, what would your definition of that be? I know you said that one of yours had TB in it, but the other appeared to be all continental, or is it British because it is bred here and not on the continent.
Not looking to start anything other than a healthy debate here by the way.

For example i am breeding a native pony with something quite hot blooded, and I would regard that as a British warmblood as at least one of the breeds involved is as British as you can get, just as I would accept that my IDxTB could be described as a warmblood.

Oh I'm pleased you asked all those questions Watcher; they were the same ones as I was going to ask too.

Welcome to the forum BWB. Most people on here are small-time breeders like yourself but there are also some larger breeders who are very nice and helpful aswell. I hope you enjoy yourself on HHO and please don't limit yourself to just the Breeding Forum.

Thank you all for your kind welcomes.

Re the Britishwarmblood question - what I mean is that this is the stud book that I choose to use for my horses registrations, gradings etc.
My mares do have continental bloodlines but have both been graded with the BWBS and have full pink papers. One mare has a TB dam line, which is not that uncommon in modern warmbloods, but she is still fully graded as a warmblood - TB and arab blood are viewed as 'upgraders' and used to add quality and refinement (as I am sure htobago will agree

)

If the stallion used does not stand in the UK, then the BWBS will accept an equivalent grading/performance test from a European Warmblood society but if he is UK based he must have passed a BWBS grading before his progeny can be issued with BWBS registration papers.

I hope that all makes sense - probably as clear as mud as I am not very good at explaining myself!!

Lovely foals, I do like the Daddy Cool one but then I love the stallion too.

I have a Demonstrator mare too, and have to say she imnpresses me with every foal she produces. Do you have any pictures of your mare?

Makes perfect sense bwb! And yes, I would certainly agree about Arabs as 'upgraders'!

I would love to see more Arab/Warmblood crosses (Tobago had a lovely Austrian WB mare this year).

But what would happen if I presented a pure-bred Arab stally for grading with the BWBS (so that his offspring could be registered with them)? Wouldn't they just laugh? Would it even be allowed? Don't stallions presented for grading have to be Warmbloods themselves - or can 'upgraders' be presented as well? Sorry to be so ignorant!

Interesting point - I am not sure if you could present a 'full 'arab for stallion grading but know you can and they do have graded pure TB stallions.
If they grade they can only issue BWBS papers to progeny of graded mares with a warmblood pedigree, not to a graded full TB mare (ie full TB offspring). That's how I understand it anyway, but please correct me someone if I am wrong

Mares that are to be presented for grading can be anglo-arab,TB or warmblood crossed with either of these.

Welcome aboard. You have two cracking foals there. Love Sunny Boy and Daddy Cool, both very nice stallions.

Also love Sanciso...........seen some very nice foals by him this year. The owners of him are very nice people indeed, Ira is a lovely lady and very easy to speak to.

As everyone else has said we are all a very friendly bunch of horse owners and always willing to help and/or share ideas with each other.........
