Hells Bells! Drugs ARE expensive! Five figure Vet Bill.

I have just forced myself to open the Vets' bill for Robin...........good job I was sitting down, I have finished choking now.

$11008.80

A bit of shaky addition on the calculator showed that there was an extra figure before the point!

I think she means it is supposed to be $1100.80.

An extra figure before the point....

I have no idea of the conversion rate any more, probably half, but it would be about the same in pounds I should think. Call out is $25 a time so that's over $300 for a start.

I was expecting 4 figures anyway, as the Vet has been (quick count of call out slips) 13 times since May 19th.

Mare seems fine now, thought we'd start an account for the foal this month! All good fun.

Better write the cheque now then, easy come, easy go.

It doesn't seem so bad written down in pounds

But, I suspect I could simply swap a pound sign for dollars and item for item it would be not far off. What is a typical call out fee in pounds nowadays?

Hi Sarah, how are you?

Robin is happy enough, back to her old ways, bullying everyone, breaking through fences....it took us 20 minutes to catch the old bag last night, the garden had more divots than a polo field after a chukka!

If it isn't boiling hot tomorrow I'm slapping a saddle on her and going for a bimble along the road. If she can rocket round my yard like that then she can jolly well go for a walk.

Zalacca, No, not insured, although I must check the farm insurance, there might be something in that.

Silver Florin.......bad presentation at foaling, lost twins, internal damage, infection, abcesses etc, etc. All the unlucky stuff that happens sometimes. Never mind, it is only money, I still have my horse

Typical call out,40-50 , half an hour examination, and routine medication for mnor inuries etc, expect a bill of £100.
SO your for that many call outs seems cheap.

Cassandra, Thankyou.
It happens, it was just my turn. I've been lucky, this was the first bad foaling I have had in 16 years. No-ones fault.

OMG - I'd have fainted
shocked.gif
The YO were I am went to pick up medicine for her foal which has a bit of a cough/temperture and OMG it's a 4 week supply and it's €200 a week!! I'd died if I had that bill

My Vet lets me do much more here as well, Thank God.

Twice daily injections for a start (five days), can you imagine what THAT would cost if I wasn't allowed to do that? Then there was the twice daily (for five days) topical a-b application to internal abcesses!

My Vet in the UK just about trusted me with wormer for Heaven's Sakes.
