Hi, I've been looking but can anyone recommend a good book for raising, training, care of a foal/ yearling and/ or onwards training for a young horse? I'm looking to buy a 6 month - yearling this year but would like a good reading reference or general guide advice. Any suggestions would be great, Thanks

I've got Richard Maxwells; from birth to backing. I found it really useful, partic for training my colt to lead etc. It provides no nonsense, common sense advice!

Richard Maxwell - From birth to backing

Vanessa Britton - Foal to first ridden

Janet Lorsch - From foal to full grown

I do have more but have loaned them out so can't give you titles First Foal is another good one

From Paddock To Saddle by Elwyn Hartley Edwards and Jennie L.C's is good too. There's also Basic Training of The Young Horse, Reiner Klimke and Training The Young Horse by Anthony Crossley.
Another good little book believe it or not is the Pony Club one, Training The Young Pony.

another vote for richard maxwells book.
he came out to deal with my very naughty mare - and I cant recommened him highly enough and the book is fab!!
