Help! advice needed URGENT

I went up the yard a couple of hours ago to ride Tilly, she wasnt being her usual happy self, but I put this down to her being in season and abit grumpy..
Tacked up and took her in the school after working for 20mins or so I asked her for canter on the right rein, this is her bad rein and often strikes off on the wrong leg but we are always improving and its just the odd occasion where we get it wrong. This time i asked for canter she went on the wrong leg, done a flying change, followed by a HUGE buck, at this point i was thinking somethings not right it not like her at all, but then i thought maybe shes feeling abit fresh because shes just been put in a new field with lots of grass. So I asked her to go forward but i could feel something wasnt right..
I dismounted and walked her back the to stables I couldnt see from the ground that there was anything wrong. I trying phoning my friend for advice but couldnt get through, i thought she would be better off out in the field moving around than stuck in the stable..

So you experts? What shall I do? I considered phoning the vet but if she pulled a muscle/nerve in her back then its not the right person to call. Im just about to go check her before i decide what to do.. She had her teeth done 3months ago and the saddle was just fitted, havent had her back checked out because there were never any problems and i only brought her 3months ago but I shall be ringing the Chiro tomorrow. Also the gelding shes in with tends to mount her all the time when shes in season, so im wondering whether he could of done something.. What do you all think?

I think I would phone a reputable physio... you may as well remove that worry from your mind, but I would first of all get your vet to come up and have a look at her as some physios require your vet's permission.
 
i know nothing of you or your horse .... BUT... it is quite comman.... a flying change uses different muscles and therfore can provoke a buck even if they did it themselves!! It can be uncomfortable and painful therefore the buck!! I have never found grass as such to be a prob.. it is their natural feed afterall...

if she is being mounted it won't help you though!!

it sounds like schooling.. but i am NO expert!!!
 
I know that flying changes can cause a buck, and she often does this. But never as big as this, and the problem being that she couldnt move forward afterwards. You know when you can feel somethings not right!!
 
I should get her back checked first AND her saddle. If she favours leading with one particular leg, I suspect that she has a physical problem that could go right back some time. Have her checked out properly. Get the physio to watch how she goes, e.g. tracking up, with you riding her. If there is something wrong in that area she should be able to spot it.

I shouldn't accept excuses for her being frisky after she's been out in a fresh paddock, nor the fact that she's a mare and could be in season.

couldn't or wouldn't?? check her back... if all well, then get some schooling in... enjoyable schooling.. perhaps on hack rather than school... or in field - sympathetically??
Reactions can be learnt - negatively..... and you'll be handling a 'probelm' if you don't...
the word 'often' ( "she often does that") means there is PROB with back/saddle etc ( more often than not you find at this stage it's the saddle!) or it's a learnt reaction to the change after wrong leg..and the tension and pain... and you must break that cycle if so.. if not she will only increase her cause elsewise... to your ill!!
 
Thanks for replying, I will be ringing vet & physio today to come and check her out. I brought her from a friend who just used to drive her, but ive been working on getting the best out of her undersaddle. She had her back checked roughly four months ago so I didnt think that the little bucks she can put in after a flying change wasnt anything to do with her back (although i know problems can be caused in this time) I merely and naively put it down to her being unbalanced and still learning as Panter said I know its quite common for them to put in a small buck, if they become disunited behind from a flying change to correct themselves.

I will definately be getting her checked out asap. Thanks for all the replys xx
