Help needed please on feeding my ISH 6yo gelding, he's very laid back in character and needs extra energy! Currently he's fed by the livery owner as its included in my livery. He's fed, 1/2 Stubbs scoop of hi fi lite, 3/4 Stubbs scoop basic pony nuts, 1/2 Stubbs scoop of oats and barley, 1/4 Stubbs scoop of sugarbeet and some bran per feed this just isn't enough. As a 4yo he was fed on topspec feeds (which I love!) and he had the perfect amount of energy. I have spoken to the nutritional helplines but they just suggest their own brands of feed, so was wondering what people would feed him if he was their horse, I'd rather him sharp that flat! He's in med/hard work, unaff eventing, is fairly fit but also does a bit if everything, out competing approx two to three times a month, he's also not a fat horse.
Any ideas greatly appreciated!

That is really rather muddled as a diet, it should be plenty to give energy but must lack in a balanced amount of vitamins and minerals, I would want him on adlib hay with one type of feed that supplies all his nutritional and energy requirements, my liveries get fast fibre as a basic feed, the ones that compete or need more get either calm and condition or power and performance, with dengie healthy tummy to add bulk and extra alfalfa.
They have all done well on this diet, it is easy for me as I can mix them if the work load reduces or increases, they also get some extra supplements to suit their needs, plus daily salt or electrolytes when competing.
