Hi - i know this should probably be in veterinary but I thought there might be more people in here...

My poor pony had the vet out this week and is suspected to have either ligament or tendon damage in her hind leg. She's got a scan on monday to find out more and until then we are cooling the leg regularly for 20 minutes a time. I bought an Aerborn Cool Care gaiter, but it doesn't seem to get very cool? It feels cold when you take it out the freezer, but doesn't seem to stay cool to the touch at all - her leg still feels warm after it has been applied - I'm wondering if it just has a mysterious way of working or maybe a shelf life (there was only one in the shop and the packaging looked pretty elderly). In the meantime i'm using other methods to cool her leg - but I just wondered if I'm being daft - any ideas?

I used one a few months ago for a fetlock strain and found the gaiter itself stayed cold for the advertised 20 mins but it was quite difficult to get it to mould to the leg - there was noticeable cooling though, so it may be that yours was past its best?

Good luck with the injury.

Thanks. It does sound like there might be something wrong with it - it moulds to the leg very easily and doesn't seem to be very cold to start with.
