hi i seem to have got in a bad habit at home when jumping only in the last week... if i know i'm on a complete miss of a stride i just stop riding n turn away in the last two strides i don't know why i have started this n am worried i will cause problems my horse is brave n bold so no reason for me to bottle it n i always go round n jump it again no probs.
i never do this in competition only at home any ideas other than keep leg on?!! as think is just a mental block

Your over thinking things, he has prob already decided on a stride by then and u just need to sit there!
Try lowering the fences if ur really worried, or practice riding at poles and shorten and lengthen strides to them! Good luck

I second the idea of lowering the fences and try to imagine you're riding in a competition even when you're at home.

i'd make the fences smaller until you are happy to keep coming whatever stride you are on, until you feel more confident. missing isn't the end of the world, as long as your horse still has the wit to help himself a bit! just keep a rhythm, keep coming, and it doesn't matter if you're a bit off it or a bit deep... both are good practise for the horse!
