People may be aware my yard owner gave us all a few months notice so she could turn her yard into a dealers base instead. fast forward a few days and she's brought 2 unhandled 2 year old dutch warmbloods that are riddled with lice and worms and are very underweight. the day they arrived and were herded off the trailer in their sedated state I came down to find them herded into my stable eating my hay and rubbing all over my rugs! I then had to help yard owner herd them out into the correct stable and I had to wash all my rugs and disinfect my stable and wash my rugs, which according to yard owner was pathetic as she didn't even bother mucking out my stable. Colt now needs gelding and she's insisting it goes in the field next to my boy as "he's unlikely to kick him if he breaks through the fence" I've gone and brought more fence posts and divided my field so they can't touch and fixed up fencing between them. I asked my yard owner if she could please divide her paddock a bit also so there is no way they can touch until they've been there a while and are clear of lice and don't appear to have any other nasties. My yard owner literally bit my head off screaming at me saying I was being unreasonable and that he needs contact over the fence. She then sent a text round everyone at the yard saying how it's her yard and if we don't like it we can leave sooner. Now whenever I go up people are going "have you upset anyone else today" and making snide comments along those lines. My yard owner won't talk to me had taken down my dividing fence so they can touch. I don't want my horse in contact with them before I move incase I take something nasty with me. Really at a loss now as haven't found a yard yet and really don't know what to do as would feel awful if I took anything with me. What would you do, or is there anything I can do to resolve this. I don't want to leave negatively. It's the first time I've ever said anything in 4 years to my yard owner and I used to get on really well with her daughter and hack with her but her mum wont let her talk to me either. :-(

Ditto I'm afraid. Leave as fast as you can. Even if you have to go temporarily to soemwhere less than perfect.

What a drama and sadly yet another person that sounds like they are going to exploit and sell on poorly horses.
If I were you I would leave the yard asap. I would email the yard owner explaining that you are removing your horse sooner due to health concern brought about my her bringing in sick horses.
Thank her for her kind offer of allowing allowing you to leave the yard early as per her text message.
Now run and don't look back and good luck at the new yard.

Leave asap and maybe get the vet to check your lad just as you do, that way if your new yard knows what your present yo has been keeping, you can't be accused of bringing anything nasty on. How unreasonable of her!

Hopefully you'll find a new place before your next rent is due, in which case I'd show her the same courtesy. Normally I'd say don't burn your bridges, but sounds like she's already burnt those!

I think you need to find somewhere else pronto as if news of those lice ridden horses gets out, other YOs will not want to take new liveries from your yard! Good luck with the move

Echoing what everyone else has said really, I would get out if there asap. What a shame your YO has turned into such a nightmare, such irresponsible people shouldn't be allowed to own horses, let alone just start dealing willy nilly. I'm sure you will find somewhere else for you and your horse to be happy.

Leave as soon as possible you will be happier and you don't know how many more horses in this condition she is going to bring onto the yard.

Put the fence back up so your horse cannot touch the other one. Tell your yard owner if she removes it again she will be paying for the vet to check your horse over in case hers has infected it. Then go and find anything else, even temporary so that you can get out.
Anyone who is so irresponsible as to have no isolation procedure in place for imported horses could be bringing god knows what in. I am sure that Defra may be able to help, after all, there have been instances recently of horses bringing strange diseases from other countries.

I agree with everyone else who says try and find somewhere ASAP even if temporary. Just to be safe, you might have to keep your horse in the stable, and not put it in the field until you leave. I know it is not ideal and that he is used to being out in the field, but you really cannot risk him catching lice. You could graze him in hand 2x30 mins a day until you can leave.

Really feel for you, you must be so worried. Is it worth posting where you are somebody might be able to help you even if it is temporary ?. I am in kent so pm if you want

I live in Marden but horse is in tonbridge atm. I work in Tunbridge wells, my other half in east Peckham so anywhere around there. Im on DIY livery there. Thats all im after

Last time I looked there were a lot of livery adverts up at Speedgate. Why not jump in the car and do the rounds today? A lot of feed places are open all day.

Ditto this.

I'm so sorry for you OP.

As a YO myself; I always get livid when stuff like your situation gets on here coz it tars all YO's with the same brush and we're not all like this - honestly!

But seriously, I'd get outa there PDQ; frankly it looks like YO is promulgating yet another seedy dealers yard and you don't want to be associated with it.

There used to be a yard in Marden Thorn that did DIY livery (I used to live in Marden a few years ago). There's also a yard on the way up to Goudhurst on the left, but I wouldn't necessarily advise you to go there, but it may do as a stop gap.

Paddock Wood has Homestead Farm which does DIY, they have a facebook page.

A friend's on a yard towards the M26 but that may be too far ?

This.

Even though the yard owner is being very bad towards you and your horse, I wouldn't be threatening to send vets bills etc as someone suggested, or you could find yourself out on your ear with nowhere to go. I would keep the horse in and really step up your search to find somewhere else.

Why are other people on the yard asking if you have upset anyone today. Surely they can see what is happening and understand?

They're asking as the yard owners told everyone im being unreasonable and treating her horses like they have something wrong with them... Been looking this morning. Having a break for some lunch and going looking again
