Well, last night i decided that i would try out the sport of pole vaulting for the first time! (bare with me- this does have something to do with horses!) It was all going well until about half way through when I tottaly mucked up my jump and ended up swinging forwards instead of backwards- landing on the sharp edge of the box instead of the nice squishy mats. :( I was winded but as it was my first time i didnt want to seem like a wimp and so i kept on going with the session, despite my back being quite painful where i landed on it.

When i got home later my back was getting really quite painful- i dont know if anyone has had something like this before but the painful bit is on the right side quite high up (where i landed) , and i can bend to the right but whenever i bend forwards, left or backwards it fells as though somebody is poking their finger into my muscle reallly hard. i also get this feeling when i am bending down and just generally walking around :(

So my question is; has anyone else felt like this before and what would you do? The main problem is that i have a show tomorrow and xc on monday on a five year old pony who enjoys bucking, which i really want to try and make. Does anyone have any stretches or miracle treatments that i could try?

thanks for reading- chocolate biscuits if you got this far! xx

I would try and get to see a physio/doctor to make sure nothing damaged as if you have torn muscles, a bucking pony can make it worse, ditto jumping.

I have constant pain, due to old injuries and take a few painkillers and get on with it, but these are old injuries so this is all I can do.

If they were new ones, I would want to know the extent of the damage before jumping on a potential bucker - better to miss a show and get the injuries fixed than leave them to go worse.
