Can anyone help? Our three year old Springer has truly 'orrid breath and could, quite frankly, melt walls at a hundred paces!
She's been checked out by the vet and nothing wrong she just has pongy breath.
Does anyone have a magic cure?

LOL, my ESS also has breath like poo, probably because she likes to eat cat poo!! I give her minty filled bones and chews and use a doggy toothbrush but I find that most of the time bad breath comes from the food they are given. When I fed my dogs really expensive dog food at £40 per sack their breath was lovely, now my purse strings are tighter and I feed a cheaper complete mix from our local feed merchants their breath is not so good!

I have a Cocker Spaniel with smelly breath too. He's 11 now and ended up having 11 teeth removed a couple of years back. I brushed his teeth regularly from a pup but he has never chewed the dental rask type "toys" that aid natural brushing of teeth. I use a de-scaler and regularly flick the tartar off his teeth to try and limit the smell.

Vet told me Spaniels are a bit pongy in the mouth as they have a lot of loose skin around the mouth as well.

Another thing to consider in a dog so young is worms. I assume you worm regularly but a high worm burden can show bad breath as one of the symptoms. I know Jasper, my dog, didn't suffer his bad breath problems that young.

Hope you sort it out, I know how bad it is when they come for cuddles and pant in your face! Enough to knock you out!

A raw chicken wing once a week will help wonders as well. People comment on how nice Bregos breath is and how clean his teeth are and I think it is mainly due to the chicken bones. Because the meat is raw it is tough and this works to clean the teeth.
