I wonder if you lovely people can give me your views?

I am currently having a debate with my dad about which trailer to go for. Getting very excited but just wanted people's good (and bad) experiences/views of both.

Thank you in advance

I have a 511 (slightly longer and wider than the 506) and I love it. I bought it new in March and haven't had any problems with it yet *touch wood*. My horse also travels very well in it

No contest IMO Bateson all the way, if you can see if you can take them for a test drive, one point where the Batesons will win is they are white and prove to be cool in summer (cough) months, and also dont rattle like the common

Ifors.

Much prefer the Bateson to the Ifors...... they are light to tow, and as Quickfire said, lovely and cool in the summer - you don't have to worry about the Neds cooking while you have a quick scoot around the showground (and... ahem... tradestands!)

Bateson, i have one and love it. I have used both and the ride in the bateson is far better and less noisy, plus it's lighter weight and can be towed with a smaller vehicle. My horses load willingly, even my now 2 year old travelled 4 hours on weaning first time in a box. She walked straight in when next tried.

No Contest: Bateson Deauville is far superior. They are light, airy, tow beautifully, no rattle, integral double saddle rack, low floor height for easy loading & stability & will take up to 17h horse.

Batesons are fab. I don't own one myself but the trailer hire company has Batesons. I couldn't tow an Ifor as we only have a CR-V, but it tows the Bateson plus 16hh horse really smoothly. Horses that don't like loading will generally prefer to go into a Bateson as they are light inside.

Bateson alllllll the way! Reason being.....

The front ramp of a Bateson opens to the left, side of the road!

The front ramp of an Ifor opens to the right, into the middle of the road!

My friends truck broke down on us last year on the motorway to an event! Luckily with Police assistance we were able to put jacks under the trailer whilst trucks were swapped over without the need to take the horses out! (It would have meant the motorway would have had to be stopped as it is illegal to unload on the motorway without standstill traffic - in BOTH directions requiring police presence).... we were lucky!

Imagine what would happen if you tow on your own and need to unload on a busy road.... dramtic perhaps, but these things do happen!!

Thank you everybody

that's been really helpful. We are going to see the Bateson today so we'll have a good look around and maybe a test tow if possible.

Thanks so much for all your views. It seems quite a close call between the two. The Bateson is a few hundred more expensive but it seems to be justified from what people have said above.

Thanks again

I've just bought a Bateson Deauville, so very pleased with it. Tows beautifully, really smooth. Horses load easily into it (including one pony who was very awkward to load in the Ifor, always needed a lunge line around her butt

). Customer service was great. We did have a problem with the ramp on the first one we bought, it was exchanged within a week (made to order as we had a few extras) for a new one delivered to the door
