Hi all,
I would like some help finding out more about these horses.
I have been offered a 6yr un-broken grey mare, cheap i have been to see her today and she is lovely and totally unspoilt.she has been at the same home since a foal and has just lost her companion.
i know very little about the breed and have only seen 2 pics so any information at all would be great, pics and links would be fantastic.
Cheers all i know you wont let me down.
Thanks in advance Teresa

He was a sweetie but I've already discussed him in one of the safe haven threads today. I do like to breed though, they were bred to haul fish in france, thier brand is often an anchor. Like the other french heavies they have pretty active paces and I think were refined with arabian blood too.

i tried one last year 1/2 TB though, she was a lovley horse really sweet but just backed so i turned i her down and my eyes nearly fell out of their sockets when i saw her out hunting this year - she is absolutly drop dead gorgeous and worth loads more than when i saw her - she has the sweetest nature and is jumping and moving like a little star - i had never even heard of them before!

I have a Boulonnais she is lovely my opinion. I use her to ride and drive I am a beginner at both and she is wonderfully patient and gentle with me.

There is a boulonnais breed website which gives information and a list of current Boulonnais for sale.

Mine comes from near Belgium and was bred by a lady and her husband who wished to preserve the breed they still have her mother.
They have a website

Tree PLEASE in all seriousness ensure you get genuine history on this horse.

Sadly many heavy horses, especially the more 'unusual' continental breeds, are not all that they seem and some sellers are less than honest.

thank you all for your help and the links provided.
I know the guy that is selling the mare and i have passed her everyday for the last 5 years in her field.
Think i will go and see her again now i have a clue what to look for.
She is a nice mare but has done nothing but live in a field for 5 yrs and the owner has decided to sell.
