I'm addicted to Dubarry!! I got my first pair of boots last year, and despite all the criticism I read on here, they are fantastic - I don't look after them amazingly well, they are used for walking, riding, wading into the river to retrieve stupid JRT that thinks it can catch swans.... I manage to clean and wax them about once a month, yet they are still in great condition, no splitting or leakiness.

Anyway, at the weekend OH took me shopping, and the local tack shop had all the new season Dubarry stuff in! - I have ordered two rather nice coats, but cannot make my mind up on the boots. I rather fancy these; (Carlow, in 'meadow' colours)

but OH wonders how practical they are (I am guessing really just for going out and certainly not for riding in etc). He would rather I have another pair of Galways, but I don't see the point as I already have a pair, and a new pair would be kept for best anyway. I wondered about the Clares but I don't really like the look of them. What would people recommend??

I would go for a pair of carlow, or claires. I REALLY wouldn't ride in your galways, the seam will either rub your saddle or destroy your boots! also if you do have a problem and return them your guarantee could be invalid if they are damaged through riding!

But mine are 2yrs and get abused around the yard etc and are still going strong- love dubarrys!!

I've just purchased a new pair of Galways, beautiful boots. However they are digging into my achilles tendon where the harder leather meets the softer leather. Did this happen on anyone else's? If so did it go away and how long do they take to break in?
