Any advice on a horse that’s gone from a calm sensible horse that’s turned into a very nervous spooky horse. He spooks at every single little thing, and when I mean spook, he doesn’t just jump, he runs away and when you on him, he will spin and bronk. I’ve changed his food from alfalfa oil to top spec chop lite and I’ve tried him on vetro calm which didn’t help AT ALL!! I’ve had his back, saddle teeth checked , job lot. I just really don’t know what to do , I’m at whits end with him. Any advice ?? Also, any advice on a calmer that anyone has had experience with?

Please help!

What about eyesight? If it is a change in character, then something has happened and it is usually pain related. Have you checked for ulcers?

Mine is like this unless she is on Equifeast which makes her a much safer ride. http://equifeast-shop.com/horse-sup...Yw7J3Or4XUBvhidv6Bqyo76bQivTk9J0aAhy0EALw_wcB

She is the queen of spooks

Equifeast did nothing for friends horse!

As someone else mentioned if not usual behaviour could be pain related. Best have a VEt to look at him.

Did you u the magnesium option or not as they taylor the levels for each horse.
Or did you use the bombproof version

I tried Magic a
naf and they did nothing
Relax me was better but CCC was the thing which worked.

Sounds like he is either uncomfortable (get vet, saddle re-check etc), unhappy with new arrangements (new management routine? less turn out? more work? less work? ...) or just not getting on with new rider (get instructor to look in real-life ideally or post a video of this behaviour - if safe to do so - here for some initial thoughts as to what route to go down from those more experienced than me?)

It could be that's he's intolerant to Soya oil? There's some in the topchop lite but it's rapeseed in the Alfafa Oil I think so he may be intolerant. TopChop turned my horse into a raving lunatic over 3 days, put him back onto the AlfaA and he's gone back to his calm self. Either that or as others have said it may be pain related.

3 months is not long maybe it's just the change of environment different routine that has upset him, might be worth cutting out all bucket feed for a while but if it continued I would speak to your vet it could be a pain response.

but saying that one of my horses turned into a lunatic on the topspec balancer.
