Help feed (power mix)

hi
helga needs something witha little more in it to give her a fiz coz she just so laid back at the mintue she on baileys no 9 All-Round Competition Mix and i was think of changing her on to HDF power mix but it says on it for race horses but i know someone on the yard feeds it coz i seen the bag 2 day . Just want ed to know if any one here feeds it ?

Nope dont feed it, but I have heard the odd nutritionist recommending a feed this high in energy before, I *think* you just dont feed the recommended high levels on the bag - you should feed less. But dont quote me on that!

But TBH I doubt you can really help hugely with regard to laziness, if thats simply her temperament. If I were you Id add some oats to her current diet and see if that did anything.

If in doubt give the feed companies a ring, if you are already using their products then you dont mind the hard sell!

I rang Baileys about the no9, but they said it was high starch, so recomended No9 for me. I usually feed oats, and my lad really takes some heating up!
This no9 has made him crazy! So it might be worth a try for you; You could even replace, say, 1/2 a scoop of the no9 with it to begin with and then add it accordingly depending on how she reacts.

Have you tried the spillers instant energy mix? My laid back TB used to have it during the indoor SJ season as he needed some extra life.

If she is really dull have you thought about getting her bloods checked - just in case there is something causing the dullness.

It isnt really that advisable to feed a race horse mix to competition horses as they are not in the same level of work and the mixes are not formulated for them. I'd ring about the feed companies if you're unsure.

its ok didnt get it in the end got her the spillers instant energy mix so see if this will changer her abit.
shes been on crushed oats and not much differents really.
yeah her bloods are fine had them checked
she on the no 9 now and there just no differences to her.
