My horse is currently on the approximate amounts ...

1 Scoop of Sugar Beet
2 Scoops of HiFi
1 measure of NutriScience Blood Boost

Ad lib haylage all day approx 3 big nets 24 hrs.

With T/O ranging from once a week to three times a week. So she doesnt get alot of grazing. I am wondering if she is lacking nutrients in her diet as she has lost some of her pigmentation to her skin on her face.

So I am wondering what feed balancers are on the market which can provide any missing bits and pieces from her diet.

Someon suggested TopSpec - is that good?

Thanks in advance.

Why not feed her a hard feed at the recommended levels?? Something like pony nuts is totally non heating, and should be able to provide her with all the nutrients she needs.

Yep, but it's your horse, and if you're not happy then you need to address it.

Phone some feed companies, and explain your dilema. Pony nuts is where I would start personally. But if you can also get him out on to some good grazing that will do him the world of good.

Id come off the sugar beet for now, else you might find a coiled spring in your stable instead of a horse

Alpha-A (lite or origianl) will give you more of an ooomph that Hi-Fi and either a TipTop supplement powder or balancer in pellets.

I feed straight cooked flaked barley as I find it does a better job than most formulated hard feeds at keeping good condition and temprement, not to mention its a bit gentler on my pocket! Feeding the recommended level of formulated hard feed is probably easiest but i've tried quite a few multivits (not sure if they're categorised as balancers...probably just broad spectrum supplements). They're all pretty similar IMHO but i'm using NAF general purpose at the moment and Governor looks well on it and shows no signs of lacking anything.

If you don't have control over the feed and you can't have heating etc then why not get a bog standard multi vit supp. I use equivit as it means I don't have to give any hard feed at all if he doesnt need it but just a hand full of chaff and his vits. There are lots on the market and none are expensive.

I fyou are unable to change the feed shes on, and she seems ok on it, I would do as said before and get a vit and min supplement.
Topspec is fab though if you go down the balancer route, it really does contain everything they need, as well as digestive helpers (pre/pro etc).

Another vote for Top Spec balancers from me too. I feed my two the Top Spec Anti Lam one (not because they are laminitic, but because they are both good doers) but the normal balancer is fab as well. That way you know your horse is getting all the vits and mins she needs for her body and feet.

They have a great Helpline too, I have spoken to them several times over the years.
