for some reason my position has really gone to pot over the last few months, and i have no idea why!

i'm riding three to four horses a day, up from two a day last year, so if anything surely i should be fitter? i used to do pilates but haven't for 6 months ish, could that be why? i get paranoid about it and tense up which makes it even worse lol.

it's not anything in particular standing out as wrong, i guess i'm in a basically correct position, but it feels like i can't sit deep in the saddle like i used to and so am bouncing around, and generally being flappy. what has happened!!!

any advice would really help!

Does the saddle fitt correctly? Maybe they have changed shape and now the saddle isn't balanced which is throwing your position / horses way of going?

saddles are all okay when last checked, but fitter is due to the yard next couple of weeks so will see if they can advise :)

i think it's me, because it's with all of them!!! they're all going okay, working well, but i know i can't be giving very subtle aids or helping them particularly, feeling like this!

The saddles may fit the horse but do they fit you? other than that ride a school master occasionally so that you know what it all should feel like... if the horse flaps about as babys are inclined to do then it can feel like you're flapping about if you 'go with them'...

good point, only one is mine, and the saddle was one lying around that we had widened to fit him, so the saddles probably don't fit me...

the horses are all at that unbalanced but enthusiastic stage, so could be the reason it's not feeling so pretty :P

i really do need to ride a schoolmaster, i'll see if i can book a lesson on one at some point.

I'm feeling the same but only on my wobbly all over the shop unpredictable baby horse! I felt like I couldn't do rising trot yesterday, yet on more established work horses I'm fine. I've ridden and backed many young ponies before but this is my first young horse and its thrown me positionally wise, so you're not alone!
