help for a very naughty pony??

Hi, my pony (well 14.3) has been gradually more and more unpredictable to ride out at the moment. i have checked his teeth, back, teeth, feed and had the vet out who put him on a high magnezium supplement.
nothing has really worked. does anyone have any suggestions?
or know anyone that might be able to help me?

he's 10 this year and ive had him for 3 and a half years and he came as a rescue.
you'd never guess but he used to be a lovely first pony. he was safe on the roads and no hassle. over the last 6 months his behaviour out hacking has gotten worse and worse. he darts into the road for no reason, jumps into cars.....all sorts. obviously i dont take him on the roads anymore after that happened but even in field and woods, he will suddenly turn and become difficult. start stamping the ground, throwing in bucks and then all of a sudden forgets the whole thing has happened?!
 
I would have the vet check his eyes too, who checked his tack/teeth etc? There are so many dodgy people about that claim to be what they're not, have a chartered physio, also try a chiropract (these deal more with bone whereas physio deals with soft tissue) also remember to have a BAEDT registered EDT, you can look one up on the BAEDT website, and have a qualified saddle fitter rather than master saddler, (some one can be able to make a saddle or merely sell them and call themselves a master saddler!) It does sound rather pain related, good luck!
 
Sunnymum: its more when in company to be honest!

rosieP: yes they were definatly registered and approved people as they work for my vets. the vet did check his eyes too and said they were fine. he is going to come out again as even he agree's the behaviour is a bit eratic!
i was just hoping someone may have some advice on how to cope with him?

It sounds to me like he is just trying to be dominent over you, I would suggest you get an experienced person to come and ride him for you to see if he gets away with it with them, horses are very perspective of riders nerves and are very quick to take advantage. Dont think your being a failure your not, your probly a good rider but not a horse trainer! If you feel nervous believe me he will no it and take advantage.
 
well, ive asked my riding instructor to hack him out round the block for my which she's going to do next week for me.

well good luck, i hope you get to bottom of it, your a bit far from me! I should go out with your instructor on a bike or something so you can see how she handles him. Dont worry you will get there with right help. one other thing give him a really good lunge b4 you ride him, make him sweat! so you have the upper hand physically, you have got to make him think your the boss! x
