Could someone out there give me some lesson ideas. I am a qualified BHSAI but i have been out having kids and hubby for the last 10 years and i have just landed a teaching job totally out of the blue which i have taken as i miss it loads but i don't have much of a memory for all the stuff i use to teach. i haven' t been on a horse either please tell me its like riiding a bike. I have butterflies i am so nervous and excited.

There are some good books in the 101 exercises for.... series! Why not read through and look at the exercises and think about what you would be looking for/expecting to see- I'm sure it will all come back.

Also go along to one of the BHS CPD days these are a good refresher - there are always videos too to jog your memory.

Personally I would write out a few lesson plans and think about how I wanted my riders to progress over say a six week period.

It will all comeback but you need to be prepared so that you are confident. Good Luck! Alison

I would ring around to qaulified schools and c if u can spend a day or a week watching what they do .
also read alot of books .
maybe ring up the british horse socierty to c if they have or do anything for the qualified instructor coming back into teaching good luck

thank you for all your positive messages. i have just come back from riding and although i was nervous it was grand. Its great to be back on the saddle and i love teaching. The mare that i am looking after i think i lovve already more than my kids!!! ok maybe not the kids but defo the hubby lol..
