Very confused! Can anyone advise if this may be better for a horse that leans in a full cheek french link? I have been told my horse may go better in something with a loose ring, but I need something to help me steer and brakage, Im also considering the waterford full cheek. Help!

If your horse isn't going well in a french link fulmer, I very much doubt the subtlety of a fulmer will make any difference, as its not really a true loose ring

If not needed for dressage that the waterford would be the better choice

Thanks, People keep telling me about the waterford, but all a keep reading is that it is sever, but then isn't any bit in the wrong hands??

It is not for dressage, for XC, jumping and gallops.

the waterford is only severe if you see saw with your reins, if you have sympathetic hands it is not severe :-) I have my mare in a waterford gag and she is quite happy with it ( brakes still not great but she's happy!! lol)

My mare used to get a sore tongue from leaning on various bits. I changed to a waterford and she has been happy and comfortable (and stoppable!) ever since!

sorry to hijack the thread but could I ask you (Dogstar) what sort of waterford you use? gag, eggbutt etc?

It is a gag, like the dutch gag design. I use double reins for hunting, one set on the main ring and an emergency rein on the bottom ring!
