HELP: further to my thread re unpaying livery who trashed fields etc

Hi all,

Some of you may have read my thread regarding a livery who just upped and left giving no notice (despite it being outlined in the contract), leaving my fields full of **** (47 trailer loads) and braking all my new fencing, calling the police on me (??) and generally just being vile....

ANYWAY...so my friend visited a yard last night...and who should be there but said vile person, renting 4 boxes which would come to the same amount as my livery 'which she couldnt pay' would have come to.....

Question is....do i ring new yard manager and just 'warn' her...or do i let go?

I'm angry and upset by the way she's treated me, so want to ring the new manager but think this may be slightly irrational, unproffessional and would stir up s**t!

What would you do :s

I'd leave well alone tbh; it was up to the new yard owner to get references, and you never know, they may get on with the livery, although I doubt it. It could just end up with you causing more problems for yourself in the long run, so I'd say goodbye to bad rubbish and be thankful that it's all over!
 
A difficult one as if I was the new YO I'd like to know. But agree with the others, you could be opening up a whole new can of worms as these people don't sound particularly horse or human friendly...
 
Id leave it to be honest or you could end up in a really unpleasent inter yard spat. I hadnt realised the madam had called the police....what on earth for??
 
I'd leave it, it's really none of your business now that she has left your yard.
I would be really interested to know how she managed to leave 47 trailer loads of **** without your noticing a long time before she left that she was not adhering to the contract.
I have to say I'm not convinced that we have heard the whole story here.

Ok, when i say trailer, i mean small trailer that fits on the back of a quad :S - still a lot though!! Anyway, not the point of this thread...

I think you're all right though, will probably just leavce it...just feel SO angry that she can just swan off like that, having completley done me over and rock up on a new livery yard not so far away Grrrrrrr!!

round here, so I've "been told", all the YO's discuss clients who have become problems, and they all know where they are. This was when i was leaving a sub-standard on welfare yard. Hmmmm.

I would leave well alone - unless this new YO contacts you, which is quite likely under the circumstances. Could stir up a whole can of maggots. sm x
 
I would leave it to.

I am trying to chase a woman that owes my company money. She used the connection with livery yard she was on to "con" my collegues that she would pay (livery yard are also customers and we get on really well with them).

She left leaving money owing left right and centre. But how do you say to someone that they are a bad payer? Its deflamatory and could get you into much trouble.

If the new yard wanted to take up referances they should have.

Let it go - I have just had to do exactly the same thing.

I take up references with my liveries if I dont know them :D
 
yup - I know that if it was me in your situation, and with my fantastic luck, she'd sue me for defamation of character or something. Then I guess you'd have to rely on photos of how she left things - ooooooo it could become an epic.

I really think the new YO will suss and come running to you shortly...then who gets the last laugh :D sm x

Slightly over my anger now....thanks fellow HHOs for your support....it's actually been quite a difficult and emotional time, seeing my property practically destroyed and being taken for such a ride!!

I clearly need to man up, grow rhino skin and be very suspicious of everyone :)
 
What strikes me about al this is the inherent fear people have about telling the truth! This woman trashed your place, if I was the new YO I would appreciate a heads up!

Sueing for defamation???? Has society really come to this? I don't see how she can sue you if what you say is true!!
 
Now this is true Serephin...and this is where my dilemma came from - i would want to know if i were the new YO, however is it just stirring things up and better left to lie?! I have photo evidence, a signed contract, texts on my phone blah blah blah so I could soon show someone who's remotely interested that i'm not making it up (if she tried to sue??), we are however talking about a person who called the police because she owed me money, trashed my field and i refused to give her horses back...so probably the sort of person (benefit scrounger) who would also try and sue me :S
 
Serephin, I was just saying that with my amazing luck atm, if it was me in KKC's position, that's what would probably happen to me ! Only a joke.. :D

If I was the new YO, I'd want to know too, simples, but you never know the beast you are dealing with, with liveries......so best to sit back and watch things unfold. From a distance.. and step in if asked for info. sm x

Just too much hassle 'she said this, she said that' i can't really be bothered.....like you all say, it's not really my 'problem' any more....i just hope that the other livery owner doesnt get as done over as i did!

I may go to the yard with my friend and erm, return a few of the bits and pieces she left with me...broken feed buckets, broken rugs, 4 bin bags of rubbish, 47 barrows of s**t (ok, perhaps a bit too far!)....i mean, i wouldnt want her to accuse me of stealing these things would i.....!
 
:D:D:D..... I'm looking forward to the updates on this one. I don't think it'll be long before you get THAT phone call tbh. I would deliver the lot and place it on her drive at home, with a note "returned to sender". sm x
 
I'm with Searphim on this. If it was my yard she was at, I'd want to know what to be looking out for or at least to be warned and keep her under a strict leash so it doesn't get out of hand. I'd be inclined to return the favour too if it went the other way. I would be very annoyed if another YO knew and didn't tip me the wink as most YO's know (of) each other, it can work both ways.
I'm such a trusting soul, it would never occur to me to ask for references, in fact around here, I think people would probably look elsewhere if you did.
 
I'd drop it,but it wouldn't stop me from dropping a few words into someone's ear who knows yo, just in passing like, about a livery you had that trashed your yard and fields and feeling sorry for the next mug she bambozles,naming no names of cause. That way you would have done your bit.:):)
 
I would most certainly go after her with a bill for repairing the fencing and clearing up the fields and if she refused to pay up within 4 weeks I would take her to the small claims court. Failing her then not paying up I would get a county court judgment and ask for interestat 8% to be added. This would mean that if she ever tried to get credit in the future this would be found on a search. If she still failed to pay up I would then ask the court for a for a garnishing order which would mean that she would have to declare all her property income and expenditure to a judge. (Not something she would want in the public arena).
 
Not really the same but...
Friend who was a YO asked me about a new livery, I had heard through a friend she was a liar and a trouble maker but as I did not know of her first hand and I didn't want to spread gossip, I said I did not really know her which was true. Guess what, she was a liar and a trouble maker almost to the point of getting the police in. I felt aweful, the only good thing was when she finally asked to leave she vented her spleen on me so I felt I had taken a bit off the heat off my friend.
I would just tell keep her it factual and tell her about the money side then let them make their own mind up.
