I made the fatal error of turning my new horse out in his beautiful Mark Todd leather/webbing mix headcollar. :-(
He has ingrained mud into places I didn't know was possible! Is there any way to salvage it??
I'm not sure if I'm better off soaking it in water or putting it in the washing machine? I'm worried about damaging the leather. :(
I tried brushing the mud off but to no avail!
Any tips?! I'm so cross with myself!!

wait till its dry then give it a good scrubbing with a stiff toothbrush to get the dirt out of the weave, then a wipe over with a slightly damp cloth to remove the dust residue, is what Id try I think...

I think i would try soaking in the sink then rubbing neatsfoot oil in the leather.
my darling hound did a similar thing, took her for a walk with BRAND new fancy leather collar and she rolled in fox. was unsalvagable due to the smell:(

Well, at least you didn't ruin your horse... :-) Try a field-safe head collar if you want to turn out in one. You can get them quite cheaply and they often look washable.
