Hi all. Rocks has two new supplements in his feed (others removed) which hopefully will help his breathing. However they aren't tasty (aren't bitter or anything either, just boring) and he's only fed readigrass as hes allergic to every other horse feed (allergic to mollases, maize, wheat, barley and soya).
He already has apples and carrots in it but even if they are chopped up tiny and well mixed in he manages to pick them all out then leave the feed!!!!
He was fine when he was on his other supplements as they were sweet tasting.
So is there anything (cheap) that I can put into his feed that will encourage him to eat it? That doesn't contain mollases or any of the above things hes allergic to. I've heard someone using honey before but wasn't sure if that was true or not?
Any ideas?

Mix the drugs in a little water, put them in a syringe and syringe them directly into his mouth.

Don't feed too much honey as not good to give them lots.

I had a horse that wouldn't eat bute so before going for the syringe type I use to mix with peppermint corrdial into a paster then clean the bowl out with chaff to mix it with!! Worth a try.

Also that stuff I told you of you can just put a small squirt onto a peice of apple & then feed to him you just pick the ones that seem to fit him the most to his symptoms. But see how you get on with these first.

My first thought was apple juice. I believe they give that to endurance horses in order to get them to take on fluids...feed...
