When out hacking. She is fine on way out but as soon as we start coming back she gets ridiculously over the top. She's jogging, fighting for her head and going sideways. She isn't listening to me at all.

Also, if we so much as go near grass she just wants to take off at a flat out gallop. I have no brakes at all. If I ever try to canter her out she just tanks off with me. She is also very strong in the school.

Its got to the stage where I'm getting scared to hack her out because of her behaviour. Is there anything at all I caould do to keep her in control or should I just accept she isn't the horse for me.

Any ideas appreciated.

Does she do this when hacking in company? My suggestion would be very short hacks with a placid companion to start with, then work her in the school if you have one on return. Build up the length of hack gradually to build her confidence and quell her excitement at returning home.

Agree with lessons.

But could she just be wanting a good blast?

My lad got very stroppy and strong and I manned up and took him to the common where you can just gallop safely for ages and let him go and he's been a little angel since. :)
