Help. I have a tough decision to make with my old friend.

When my 34 year old struggled to get up (just a couple of times) during the summer I made the decision (with the help of an ILPH field officer, she was an ILPH pony) that she wouldn't have to go through another winter. She was pts in October 2005. It sounds as if your pony is struggling far more than she was OP, you have to put him first, hard as it is.

Sadly its now time to show your horse how much he means to him by making the decision to stop him having to suffer once winter arrives. I personally would prefer to PTS a happy old horse rather than it be an emergency when he is stressed as unable to get up and also have no weight on them.

My thoughts go out to you and I hope you make the best decision for your old horse who has given you so much.
