I live on a working farm that runs a pheasant shoot every Saturday throughout the season. My dog isn't very good with gunshots or fireworks so every Saturday morning I give him a few drops of rescue remedy which works well for him. This morning, however, I picked up the wrong bottle and gave him 4 drops of rescue remedy "night".
Normally he's his normal mad, bouncy self but this morning he's crashed out on the couch and hasn't moved all morning... This dog doesn't do calm so I'm a bit worried!

Will it affect him too much and how long roughly until he 'comes to' properly?

I wouldnt think for one moment you could overdose on this, your problem will be when he comes round this evening and expect his walks etc:)

I must say Im impressed and will give this a try myself for Darcy who has got very nervous about fireworks.

Least now you know it REALLY works :) many years ago my then BF overdosed me with cough medicine with more or less the same result. I slept all day and he was very worried by the time I finally woke up.

He's with it but very quiet - my dog is normally like a collie with ADHD on speed so him being quiet is very strange!
Should I withhold food?

I gave one of my old dogs an acp tablet once.....a horse one.....poor thing could barely keep his eyes open for about 6 hours!!!!

No, feed as normal. If his behaviour is normally 'mad', I'd be tempted to look at his usual food and the ingredients. Any crazy colours or supermarket brands are generally to be avoided.

He's had everything from JWB, Autarky, Arden Grange, CSJ and he's currently on Skinner's Maintenance. But he is a Welsh Sheepdog so a naturally high energy dog.

Every single one of them...? Well quite honestly I've no intention of paying £50 for a bag of food that ends up with my dog looking like a hat rack, the brands I've mentioned are but a small selection of the dry foods I've tried over the years with no improvement to either my dogs weight or temperament - and yes he's had every test going at the vets. And before you say it RAW is not an option.

Now, if we could bring the topic of the thread to what it should be which is "can rescue remedy "night" harm my dog" I would be most grateful.

Skinners sent my dog absolutely loopy when I had to feed it for a short period a few years ago. He is currently on Burns and he is so much saner now!

Re the rescue remedy, I will have to try the night version next bonfire night!
