Can you hire a car for towing?
Waggon has just failed MOT despite being all but guaranteed it would be fine, and I'm supposed to be competing in my first BD on Sunday at Bold Heath so totally gutted.
I can hire a trailer relatively easily but dont have a tow bar on the 4wd (just never got round to it as always had the waggon doh!)
Is it possible to hire for towing purposes ?? And if so where from I cant find anywhere!

Looked at hiring a waggon but wowsers cant justify it just for a day!

Is anyone going that might be able to squeeze me in?? I know thats cheeky but I was so looking forward to it as its my last chance to compete until I have had the baby.
xx

I am not able to see your location but if it helps there is an excellent horesbox hire place just outside Bicester, Bicester Horse Box hire, Brad the owner is very helpful.

It might also be an idea to post on the BE forum (buddies), bit of a long shot but you never know.

Hope you get sorted, good luck :)

Sorry just noticed you mentioned BD not BE so the above link may not be appropriate!

Could you not get a towbar fitted tomorrow? I had this problem last year when horsebox was out of commission I trawler through google for someone who would come out and fit towbar for me found one who did it same day, he was down south though. Perhaps worth a look for someone similar up here?

You may possibly find a commercial with a tow bar from a smaller local rental company, I worked for one of the multi-national car rental companies for 7 years and the only towbar fitted on a fleet car I ever saw was the one on my Disco! Most car rental offices close at lunchtime on Saturday until Monday morning so you are likely to be stung for a weekend rental anyway so you may find it as economical to hire a horsebox.

I do know someone who went and test drove a 4x4 with tow bar on for the day just to take her horse somewhere, but I wouldnt have the nerve for that one! She then had the cheek to tell the dealer that it was underpowered so she wouldnt be buying! Do you not have a frind who could tow or lend their vehicle for the day?

Try your local Landrover dealer, they may do hire and I am sure a Defender would have a tow bar as standard??

My husband owns a garage and he has just pointed out that this person would have been completely uninsured and very illegal!!
