I am soon after a year off through injury going to be popping along to for first dressage test. This is just an unaff walk and trot test as i have to start slowley.

I need help PLEASE with platting.

I have a very long necked TB who takes 19 regular plaits so to save time and my sanity i want to have a bash at the big dressage plaits with carl hester etc has.

Can anyone post a link or give advice on how to do them becuase if dressage is all she can do i might well go mad at having to do 19 everytime out

Thanks

I would just do less I put 11 in the mane making it 12 with the forelock. Sometimes people dont even bother plaiting up for dressage so the judge wont hold it against you if you have got bigger plaits

I want to achieve the nice big plaits that look looser at the top and have a sweeping style to them if you know what i mean?.

I cant really do less without changing the apperance into something resembling a golf ball. I have donw web search but cant seem to find anything on them but im sure i have seen a website before that showed how to do them.

My poor horse is doomed

I keep mine fairly tight when plaiting then after the plait is secured i pull the top bits out slightly to make the crest bit stand out. Does that make sense?! It pulls the plait tighter too, then just ball them up and sew in, can "puff" it up a bit more if needed after theyre stitched.
Hope that helps.

For 9 or 11 plaits, start by having a decently pulled mane so they dont look like golf balls. If you keep the top reasonably loose and plait downwards, if you understand me, you should end up with even, beautiful plaits! Here speaks someone who never plaits for dressage, except a championship....but I could do plaits for hunting in 15 minutes!!
