Help - Leather Booties

Ok, so I got some cheapy 2nd hand Dublin boots because my De Niros have taken SOOOO long to arrive, and I needed something to wear cubbing... I cleaned and moisturised them the night that I went cubbing, and now just had another look at them, the right foot boot has a lot of wear about mid calf (Apparently I ride unevenly!!!) But as this has never happened, I just wondered if it was normal, and what I should do, can I just put polish on top to make it shiny and black again???...

there is a technique called boning which you can use to take out the scratch mark. found this in on a forum 'The bone is actually not smoothed out, it is a natural bone and therefore has different surfaces convex on one end concave the other and straight in between. Apparently the bone has the right amount of natural oils and the right density to smooth the leather without damaging it. To remove a scratch, apply plenty of shoe cream as lubrication, find a section of the bone and rub over with great pressure. With a bit of luck, the scratch is gone. You are mimicking what they do at Horween’s, rolling over the leather, to close the surface and produce the shine.' instead of the shoe cream you would use black shoe polish (assuming black boots) and an knife handle will the same job. hope this helps
