Right...decided with prices going up almost daily, it is no longer false economy to have a second car. My 4x4 is still quite new and wonderful for everything I need it for and I love it, but I spend up to £100 a week on fuel...so decided when the house sells, I'll buy a super mini. When mine was in the garage for crash repair I had a little Nissan note as a courtesy car and struggled to top 25 a week doing the same daily journeys..even with my extra journeys, eg the 2 hour each way trip to mum was only 35 which costs me about 100-120 depending on traffic and which garage I top up at...so I need your help choosing a few new cars so i can then find a nice dealer who will allow me to see if the dog approves!
this could be a deciding factor!!
Looking for a super mini type so the following things are important to me
low/mimimal tax
as high / good mpg as possible (-eg mini cooper diesel is rumoured to do 60-70mpg my truck does 19-26!!!!!!) I want the highest mpg I can find!!
MUST have 5dr as have very large polar bear dog that goes everywhere with me(just bigger than a large male gsd in height, though I would class him as light in frame in comparison)we do alot of miles when visiting mum and daily to to my animals etc and he stays in the car while I turn out/ride. He does not cope with crates so that is not an issue but I would like the back seats to be big enough for him to lie down properly (with his seatbelt when driving)or to put the back seats down flat and put him in the boot when I'm leading horses etc.
Leather would be essential purely as its more horse/dog mud friendly and doesn't catch snag or retain dust or wet soggy dog like cloth, wipes off and doesn't make me sneeze from dust and less hoovering time!always a bonus!
Air con - for the long journeys when you get stuck in traffic with dog in the sun or just for the days you get in & its roasting hot to cool down before dog goes in...so essential
elec windows front and rear ideally tho just front is fine if it has all the other goodies I want
a treat for me would be heated drivers seat or both fronts. have alot of back pain esp when driving and lets face it on a grotty day like this weekend...who wouldn't want a nice toasty bottom warmer (in car aga!)
airbags and abs ofcourse and central locking either on key or clicker
oh and the MOST important thing ever COFFEE holders!!!!
You may laugh, but you'd be surprised how many cars don't have them!
Congrats if any of you have made it this far..warming Starbucks and biscuits if you have...
price I'd like to spend as little of the house as possible...and would not mind a second hand but still new ish from a good main dealer ie mini cherrished as they have sooooo many checks... I love mini's and was thinking cooper diesel as it has excellent miles to the gallon as do several of their range..and quite solid. Smart is too small..ruled out vauxhall.looked at Kia Venga 3 but if I'm paying 16k to get all I want I can get a second hand mini for half that with everything i need and mini in theory will hold its value...plus it means spending less of the house!! oh and any suggestions to avoid for any reason or good bad experiences much appreciated too THANK YOU!!xxx
