Help me choose my xc colours!

So I'm off to my first hunter trials ever with my part loan pony on October! *insert petrified face here*
BB is a dales x cob and is all black and extremely hairy! (I'm planning on putting his mane into a running plait)

What colours would suit him?

Anything other than black unless you want to be matchy matchy in which case only black.

tbh if you're petrified may I suggest that the money would be better spent on further practice and/or training, especially given the recent threads on XC safety.

You can get away with most things with a black horse - red looks really nice with black, as do pinks/bright blues/greens etc - you really can't go wrong!

My son has a very hairy black cob & his colours are red, green & yellow - rasta colours!
I would go for something bright or pastel to contrast nicely with the black
