Some of you will have seen my soapbox whinge about being horseless, so perhaps you could help me overcome it please?

Thinking about putting a card up in the local feed merchants along these lines:

'Kind and experienced adult rider looking for sensible horse to hack out 1-2 times p/w in return for stable duties in xxx area.

5'8, 10.5st, quiet and balanced rider. Has shared, hacked, schooled and volunteered for the RDA. Now employed by xxxx (local well known horse welfare charity).

Financial contribution sadly not possible, but happy to take on stable duties, including on non-riding days. Early winter mornings not a problem!

Please call xxxxxxx'

Could of questions: firstly - what do you think?

Secondly - do I put where I work? I am office staff but put it there because I think it shows that I do know a bit about horses and I am respectable! I don't want to mislead people though as they may think I must be a great rider that rehabs horses - I don't!

Thirdly - if I say 'sensible horse' does that make me sound either novicey or nervous? I'm neither, but I want something pretty stressfree - doesn't have to be a paragon of virtue, but no nutcases please, I value my neck

Fourthly - the financial contribution bit. I'm not looking to freeload here but I really can't afford to chip in right now and I don't want people who need the extra cash to waste time calling me. I don't want to come over as a joy rider though (partly why I have put the bit about where I work in). I am hoping someone dreading the winter mornings will go aha as I would happily muck out in the mornings for a couple of rides a week!

Sadly I don't have a decent picture of myself riding so can't add one.

What do you think?

Thanks

I'd snap you up like a shot!

I think it's important to put where you work - it shows you are sensible and can hold down a job. Actually the horse bit is irrelevant in that respect but it obviously has the advantage of showing you care about the horses welfare.

Nothing wrong with saying sensible cos you've said experienced in the first bit. Experienced adult owners (adults that own horses rather than people that own adults!!

) will know what you mean.

Final bit about money. Best get it up front then there can be no confusion later on!

A good ad I think.
