Hi
Im confused on what 4x4 to be looking for. I need one that would tow a 16hh and a 14.2hh but still be cheapish to run (insurance, tax) as i would have to use it to drive to work etc. Any advice??

Hiya...as my boyfriend is a tight arse farmer and wont spend any money,..and everything has to be cheep as possible to feed and run we did a lot of costings on this subject lol

We found that the pickups are the cheepest as their class is diffrent to other 4 x 4 so the tax is a lot less , so is insurance ect.

The only downfall is that some have VAT added to the final price..but u can claime that back if you are registed.

We have a double cab pick up and its really comfy, we live down a really rough lane so it takes a daily hammering and we have never had any problems with it. Its also good as i can put a big bale of straw on the back of it as well so it earns its keep

Ill second that! The manual will tow 3t and tax is only £200 odd, the automatic will tow 3.5t but the tax is £400 a year.

I have the automatic (sooooo easy to drive!), tows my 15.1 arab and friends 16.1ish TBX no problems. Diesel not too bad, mine does 200 miles a week on about half a tank (£35), obviously more when towing. Insurance was a little lower than the disco etc (around £1000 a year, but I had no no-claims as this is the first car I have been the main driver on)
