So.... I have a relatively new horse (bought at the very end of September) we had a rather shaky start after he chucked me in significant style (put down to gastric discomfort) which is all behind us now, and I am really enjoying him! However, I have one small problem... finding a bridle to fit him!!

He is currently wearing my old mare's bridle (she's retired and so has no use for it any more) its a nice jeffries bridle, and fits well on the nose band and cheek pieces, but a bit small on the head piece and brow band - not terribly so but would prefer something a bit bigger... (its a Cob size), plus its brown/havannah, and my saddle is black... now we're getting on so well, and aiming to start competing properly in the spring, I really want to find him a new bridle.

I also have an X-Full heritage comfort bridle, i bought for a loan horse i had for a while, and i love it... so i bought the 'full size' version for the new boy... and its too big, and to be honest, the nose band is a bit too chunky! So then, while in my local feedmerchant I noticed a 'comfort bridle' with a much narrower noseband/browband, got the cob size... it was too small, exchanged for the full size... its too big! Grrrrr!!! ordered some cob size cheek pieces from ebay to see if that would improve it... they're bigger then the full size ones already on the bridle (have advised the seller, who has refunded and said i can keep them... even though they're useless to me...)

So now i have 2 full size comfort bridles (lovely bridles at that) that are too big, the jeffries bridle which is ok, but could do with being bigger (and the X-F bridle too- but thats not really an issue)... I dont want to spend a fortune on another bridle only to find it doesnt fit, and to be honest, my budget is limited!

I love the comfort bridles, I think the distribution of pressure over the headpiece makes them far more comfortable!

So he's a Thoroughbred, and obviously has an odd shaped head (my old old mare was TB and fitted in cob bridles beautifully!) what bridles do you all have on yours? oh and if anyone needs a bridle, I've got a whole tack-shops worth in my utility room!! ;)

here he is in the jeffries bridle...

Elevator build your bridles for you? if you are really struggling.

On my tb ive got a GFS for everyday use and then an equiport rolled one for competition.
