Hi all, I think he's got the horse bug, well to be honest we've been talking it through the last few months anyway,

He's 15 stone
5'10
He actually looks alright height wise on my 15.1 although he's too fine to carry him regularly.

I'm thinking around 16-16.2 or a nice chunky ish 15.2?!

Ideas anyone?

What budget? What areas will you travel to? What level of rider is he?

I agree that a HW cob, 15.2hh approx or an ID type, 16.2hh approx would be good types to look for.

My hubby is the same weight but a little taller. He rides a 15hh medium weight cob. Had I actually set out to buy something for him I would have gone a bit bigger. Anything from 15'2 upwards. He is fine on his cob but could have done with something a little bigger. His retired mare is 16'2 and she is a good height for him too. He kind of stole the cob from me!

What budget/location? There's a cracking mare I know of who is going up for sale in the next couple of days, but she won't hang around long I don't think. She's not mine, she belongs to a friend about 20 odd miles away from me. Big 15.3hh, extremely heavyweight [huge] built cob mare, old traditional type, bombproof/anyone's ride type :) I can pass on her owners number.

Sorry, we're not sure on budget it really depends on horse! But pref no more than £2.5k.
He's a novice completely.
South west so Devon Cornwall Somerset?

I think I'd prefer a 16.2 I'd for him if I'm honest, although if the right 15.2 cob came up I wouldn't pass it up. Just think he'd look more suited on a 16.2 x

Christmas, I'm Cornwall based x
