Criteria....

15.2-16.2
Gelding
max 10 years old
Must be good to hack, load and jump.
Ideally not too cobby.

No more than a few hours from Birmingham.

Budget absolute max of £3k - closer to £2k prefered ;)

You just have to look everywhere leave no stone unturned ask everyone you know just keep pushing, and there's always ........ Dragon driving.

Ask your farrier/trimmer and your vet as they will often know of horses that are for sale and the reality of the sale and what the horse is really like

I also really liked the chestnut

If its close enough I would personally be going to look at that one!

On a thread asking for opinions you will always find loads of people pointing out the negatives as thats the nature of people, lots will think you can see the good points yourself so will try to break through the rose tinted specs

:D He is reserved :D

I worry with thoroughbreds about their legs and feet, everyone I have ever known has had leg/foot issues.

I know one for sale, 3 year old, I'm breaking him in next month so if you're not desperate you could wait until then ;) (You didn't put a lower age limit)

Dont rule them out, there are some good ones out there.
My daughter moved off ponies straight onto a chestnut TB mare, and she is absolutely worth her weight in gold. So well mannered, wants to please and so easy. Shes had her a year now, and they have such an amazing bond. Passed a 5 stage vetting, and touch wood no issues so far.

We bought her off a young eventer in north wales, i sent her a text today telling her how thrilled we are with seren . She mentioned she has another one for sale very similar. Let me know if your interested and I will send you her number.

I was in a similar situation 5 years ago. I was looking for a 16hh minimum, 8-11 year old gelding. Ended up going to see one at a dealers, he had huge sarcoids which put me off. Dealer suggested I tried another one they had, a 6yr old 15.3hh mare. Told him I didn't really want a mare and she was too small. He persuaded me to ride her and i loved her and 5 yrs later still have her :-) Don't rule out mares - some are really special :-)

Ahhh pmp, your selling Chico ?? Do you ever hear anything of ruby ? I remember her from new rider and was sooo tempted to come and see her but you sold her just before I was ready to buy.

Yeah, Chico is sold, just awaiting a clear strangles test then he will be off. Superb home waiting for him, couldnt have asked for better.
Ruby is doing really well, she does fun rides, hacks and goes on holiday with her owner staying in rental stables with cottages!

I do have a friend selling one that is a TBx, coloured, 15.3 & 4yr old, hes well under your budget as they need to a quick sale. But they are West Wales. I wont put up much more details as i dont want to get told off lol!
