Please can you guys help me?
I'm nearly 19 and need to find a horsebox that I can drive on my normal license.
I've found a few boxes but they're 3.5 tonnes but does that mean I can only drive it by itself, without a horse in it?
Looking really for a very large transit converstion.
I've been looking for a couple of months now and it's driving me crazy!

Basically on your licence you will be able to drive anything up to 3.5tonne. That is the gross weight (ie the maximum weight the vehicle is allowed to be when fully laden- so if you put it on scales and weighed it, it has to be under 3.5t). So unladen van conversions usually weigh AROUND 2400kg which means you can put another 1100kg in to get to your maximum allowable weight. They are very useful for carrying one horse, but you can't usually carry two (unless they are small ponies) because once you have fuel, haynet, tack, spare wheel, water, people etc in there you will go over the limit. The van conversions will usually carry height wise up to around 16.2hh, the box vans up to about 17.2hh. Hope this makes sense!
