Help me find a long leather riding boot

Now my daughter is 16 we have said she can have some long leather riding boots - now that she has pretty much stopped growing.

I measured her leg while she was sitting, with her lower leg upright. From the back of the knee to the floor was 41 cm and round her calf was 36cm. She is size 6.

Now I thought she was quite tall (5'8") but looking at some of the boots the heights are taller than her leg and wider too.

I'm struggling to find a long boot for her - will I have to buy her short boots and gaitors again?
 
Are the boots for competition or just for everyday? Does she want them just for riding or for yard work as well? And - ahem - what is your budget?!!
 
My parents did exactly same with me when I turned 16 back in the spring. I am also a size six an dshorter than most boots. I ended up buying the Ariat Women's Performer Zip (which has laces on the front so you can adjust for narrower feet) and the Ariat Close contact half chaps. I am delighted with both. They are very comfortable and if her legs or feet do change you do not have to pay for the full boot.

Depending on you budget I suppose the alternative would be to get boots made to measure but I dread to think how much that would cost!

At the mo she is mostly hunting with a few unaff SJ and HT's thrown in. So a plain black leather pair are what's needed.

Her days of pony BSJA bling are over!.

Budget is up to about £200.

The Shires suggested by the next poster seem to be the right size.
 
If she doesn't mind the field boot style, with the laces at the ankle, the Ariat Bromonts are fantastic - amazingly comfortable, need no breaking in and are super warm in the winter (great for hunting!)

Yeah - they're the ones I was looking at originally, the H20 insulated ones. But they appear to be too tall. I might order a pair though for her to try. Insulated would be good when she's hunting!
 
Just to say that the leather does drop quite a bit when properly broken in!
When I first bought my mountain horse high riders (I think that what type they are!) they were actually sitting on my knee! Not the most comfortable at first but had them 3 and a half years now and they are great!
 
I wouldnt worry about them being slightly too large in the leg.
She hasnt stopped growing yet! (at least I hadnt anyways!)

Oh to have my 16yr old legs back! :rolleyes:

I used a nice pair of Ariats and Close contact half chaps, worked a treat :)
 
I would try Equitectors - IME they have the best range of heights/widths/sizes available.

I bought a pair for hunting a few yers ago, and they are still looking fab, really comfy and warm. i only hunt in cotton socks. Plus, when I ordered them, I spoke to the guy as I was concerned as I have a really high instep and that's why most boots don't fit me. He stretched the instep for me at no extra cost.
