Since moving the horses back to Kent to my aunts very small yard which I'm renting from her I've decided that I'd quite like to loan out my smaller mare whom only my sister rides now and then so would be a part loan. They live out so no chores, hacking is great however mare can't be ridden out on own as the other one stresses too much-but I'd be riding out with them anyway. There is a school here and tack room which they'd have a key to. Mare is 14.2, quiet type, a bit trippy and not ridden very much at all but no vices or anything nasty. I would be open to how much they want to ride and when.
So how should the ad be written and where to advertise? And how much to charge? What are sharers looking for?
This is not an ad btw I just need help getting started with this and any advice welcome :-)

I'd advertise it as someone to help ride out one of your horses rather than a share, as they will have no individual time with the horse really. Other than that, write about the horse, size, type, experience, that it lives out so not many jobs to do, then a bit about what kind of a person you'd like, ie, mature, experienced rider (if need be) etc.

I'd ask for perhaps a 10/15 pound contribution towards upkeep (eg. Rent) of the horse a week. Or if she is shod, the cost of that perhaps?
You could arrange a few hacks out together a week and loanee could ride in the school whenever. Also, no doubt in time with small steps horse could learn to 'go it alone' with hacking!
I'd advertise on preloved.
It's probably best to find someone with a good sense of humour who may not be the most experienced over someone who knows horses inside and out and is an ass!

I found my sharer through local horse groups on facebook.

She does 4 days a week for £10 (money was less important to me than someone who would look after and love my boy as they would their own) and her duties are to groom and hoof pick, poop pick and ride. She also kindly has agreed to rug or de-rug my lad and the 2 ponies he shares the field with weather depending.

Other than that she is free to hack/school/compete etc as she likes as long as she notifies me with plenty of time and pays the extra insurance costs so for example if she wanted to take him to a local show she would let me know, I'd sort his insurance for the day to cover him for whatever level of competing she was doing and she'd pay the extra amount so say normal insurance per month was £35 and then with competition insurance it was £45 she'd give me an extra £10.

I like Elsiecat's idea of arranging a couple of joint hacks too, that way the sharer gets the best of both worlds.
