My tale of woe....
And so my story begins....I met the man of my dreams, yes a man not a horse! He lived in Bristol, Winterborne and I lived in Somerset and it was 'heaven' from the moment we met...
Then one day my most 'gorgeous man' asked me to move in with him. His request (gorgeous man) started with...it's complicated... the horses.... 'It's not complicated', I replied of course we'll move in and we did.... That was July 2014 and you all know how it goes moving two horses, a house, a cat, a child and tack and rugs and wheelbarrows......
We live in Winterborne, Bristol near the duck pond and the irony of my situation is there is a large livery yard walking distance I mean literally 1 minute from the end of our road and it's full.
So we found a yard, the ladies were nice...now my boys, one is a gentleman thoroughbred 25 years old and retired. He's been delightfully cosseted all of his life and it is my intention to cosset him until the end of his days. The other chap is 12 and is currently learning the art of becoming a gentleman.
The 'boys' joined a mixed herd, I thought it would be fun for them to make new friends, however it was not! My old boy was beaten to I think the expression is within an inch of his life. The ladies all said 'don't worry he'll get used to it'... well i couldn't and neither could he. So we moved again to a picturesque little place by a river, 3 stables, tack room perfect or so I thought...the challenge of renting from a person without a contract can present a number of issues especially when you pay up front... buyer beware, the challenge with communication these days is... that I thought and it looked like there were fields to go with this yard... you can imagine on day 2 when I turned the boys out to the phone call, to advise me that the horses could not go on the grass!!! That was last September and since then the boys have been stuffed with hay and haylage 24/7. And I have hunted high and low, scoured the ads, gone to tack shops looking for a livery yard in or near, underneath and through the long grass of Winterborne, Hambrook, Iron Acton and there are none.
I have Face-booked, social media'd you name it and still ZERO.
I have humour and hope and the boys really love haylage...my next call will be to OBI-ONE-KENOBI so hopefully you can see my plight, I do not know a single soul in the horse community where we live and there are a lot of these souls in Winterborne because every bit of space is full up. I am looking for a DIY livery Yard, shared/private; with grass, water, electric oh and stables. I am a good egg, all round tidy person, the boys are as you now know are gentlemen. We just want to find a home - maybe you can help or pass this on - please message me and of course 'thank you' Jules XXX
