So after my bombshell about my dream horse yesterday I had a long chat with hubby last night... I was getting all upset about it and he said (and this is one of the reasons I married him) ' chuck it in the field and buy yourself one that will do the job you want it to do... I didn't know what to get you for Christmas anyway..." when a non horsey man says that to you you know you've got a keeper.

So here is my list (none of it is negotiable I'm too old for negotiations...)
between 16 and 17 hh
between 6 and 10 years old
gelding
Any colour but grey (can be coloured but not with lots of white ) - this is purely practical I have an almost all white hairy atm and cant deal with another one you have to bath 3 times before you take it anywhere)
Would prefer a warmblood or ISH (is this a warmblood by another name?) but would consider a very big welshy or 'super non hairy cob.
Must have been to competitions and have some sort of jumping history and be capable of jumping a BE90 with ease. I am not confident jumping so need a horse that can help me out(ie pulls into every fence is a plus!)
The dressage doesn't have to be there yet - as this is my bag and can train pretty much anything up to medium
Must be a saint to travel - must travel alone and stand on the box without jumping up and down as I really want to be able to go out and compete without help.
good stable manners.

Nice to haves

Good to hack/ traffic
Pretty face.
Down the road in Cheshire would be lovely too but will travel for the right horse.

My budget is negotiable for the right horse but below 10k would be lovely.

Anyone up to the challenge cos everyone that i phoned to day has been sold.

equally if any one knows of a dealer where I can try a few I would be grateful, I'm not good at finding them on face book so any hints and tips would be great

I have not found you a horse, but had to post to say I am glad you are looking for another. I have had 3 'last horses' as I have an equally FAB husband. He does not even like horses - or so he claims.

I had a similar requirement to you, but have ended up with a grey mare, and younger than I wanted too! Still, she is FAB, and yes, I wash her every morning!!!

3 cheers to your husband! You only live once!

Well mine is pretty much fitting that description but doesn’t take a pull to a fence and would unfortunately be over your budget!

Super smart event horse for sale
Full up 16.2hh 6 year old gelding by Watermill Swatch

'Smurf' is a serious grassroots contender with scope to continue up the levels.

Admired everywhere he goes, Smurf has a great presence and a heart of gold.
He started british eventing this season and has had two Wins at BE90 and has recently stepped up to BE100.
Smurf is very straight forward and easy to do, he is easy to manage at home and out competing. As well as eventing he has done riding club, camps and hunted.

Special home wanted for this super boy!

just looked on horsequest in the eventing 90/100 section page 2... may be too much like a grey for you but he looks like a good type and moves nicely(IMO)/ he is 16hand knabstrupper gelding, 7 years, good eventing results, laid back character,£8500, yorkshire...they have had him for 3 years, and say he is good to shoe, clip travel etc and hacks out alone or in company....ref.no194981.

i saw some others but they were either mares or there are loads of greys....

Just to say, I know Smurf -he's exactly as the advert says! I'm not friends with owners but do see them about. Cheap flights up here and bargains to be had!

That's my criteria exactly although I would have a mare - good luck, I'm finding it very hard. I am mightily interested in a 4yr old close to me, and I definitely said over 5yrs old !
I liked the look of that knabstrupper and would have considered travelling but 5hrs was a stretch too far for me.

I know of one that ticks all of your boxes. BUT has turned in front foot and has recently had injections into SI joint and hock to correct 4 beat canter, which has worked lovely and he has remained sound throughout. He is an absolute gentleman and has Cruising lines, bred to event and will jump anything you point him at. He babysat my sister her first time out hunting (on hound exercise two weeks ago) and I really couldnt fault him. But would not pass vet, I imagine due to above. He is bay, and beautiful. And quite a bit under 10k due to above.
If you can look past the above then he would be a great horse, and vet is convinced he will improve with work as he becomes stronger. Owner has had him for a couple of years and done nothing with him, bought him from Malvern Sport Sales. Then sent him to my friend on sales livery 6 months ago. She picked up on the SI issue and has managed and treated him at her yard and he is now advertised for sale. He completed an UA80 this year, DC

If you are interested I can send you the link to ad

After the time I’ve had I’d rather spend 15k and have one that has no issues... also it’s going to get hammered in the dressage phase

after reading your last post I completely understand why! I'll let you know if I come across any 'issue free' versions.
