I have a bit of birthday money left over after my shopping sesh at Badders - I have about £60...

So I need some help with what to buy.

I need a show shirt - don't want one that looks like a man shirt, don't want to spend a fortune, must go with my navy showing jacket and navy tie (have not got a stock).

I want one of those show lead thingies for in hand classes - the ones that clip to either side of the bit and look smart....I don't know what they're called??? And are they actually neccesary?

I want another set of reins so I can use the pelham without roundings - but mine are rubber so chunky, so I guess I need to buy two sets??

Could do with a show cane, but this is not essential.

Would quite like a flat hunter style bridle...but don't think i have enough money to get that as well?!

I'm off round the tack shops of Leicestershire tomorrow (my actual birthday) but if I can't find stuff there I'll order stuff online...

Or maybe there's something else lovely I could buy??

I always thought it was best to have a plaited leather rein and a plain leather rein. I taught myself to use two reins though so could be wrong!

Dublin do a lot of nice shirts.
The local saddlery by me-Birmingham has a lot of short sleeved jobs all in really nice colours but when jacket is on you cant see anything! Only about £15 I think.

That's the sort of thing jessrulesdaworld - but I want one with a leather lead rein?! Or do i buy that separately?!

Pudpud - will look out for dublin shirts...but would I get away with a normal shirt from Primark?! Are they actually any different?!

I don't think that one attached to both sides of the bit

I did try to look for one at badminton but couldn't see one - perhaps such a thing doesn't exist?

You might actually get a nice shirt from Tesco. The Tesco in Coventry at Ricoh-just down the M-way from Leics had some nice ladies shirts in at the weekend!

Might have a look in tesco then! Am loathe to pay lots of money for what is basically just a white shirt! was goingto get an Ariat one at Badders because it was half price, but when I went to go back and get it I had completely forgotten which stand it was on

That's the beasty! Do you think Horse wear house or sharnford lodge will have them??

No idea - If I was to put money either way I'd say not! If they've got one you'll be lucky - if you can get over to Milners I bet they'll have one though....

Happy spending

I think it's correct to show in your usual bridle (snaffle or double) with the reins over the head for a ridden horse.
Buy a regular shirt from Tesco or Primark to use as a show shirt.
I've got plaited reins and plain reins on my double bridle.
Look on ebay for a cheap second hand Jefferies or Sabre hunter bridle.
Show canes are around £7 in my local tack shop, make sure you get one that matches your tack (not like me

Happy Birthday for tomorrow, hope you have a lovely day

thank you! £7 isn't too bad for a show cane - and I think I do need one, I was having to drag the lazy beast round last time!!
