Just trying to register with SJAI and been told horse isn't microchipped.
Now, is there any chance he will be microchipped as complusory thing for either BE or non-tb weatherbys register?
(this by the way is the needleshy horse...)

No chance for eventing Ireland, as do not have a policy of inserting or checking microchips at present. Wetherby's non TB I am not sure. Flo is done but she is a TB. If he has been done as Weth non TB, the bar code for the microchip will be in your passport prob on the first page, and the vet who originally vetted him when you bought him should have scanned it to make sure you were getting the right horse with the right passport.
Hope this helps

I knew for eventing ireland (thank goodness!) but I cannot say re: the passport as the sJAI now have the passport, and have rung to tell us they can't find the number. Just hoping that maybe BE might have the policy? Though have a sneaking feeling they probably don't and he has no chip!

I'm not sure re BE (sorry), but have been on HHO quite a while and have never heard any of the mainland peeps mention a microchip in relation to BE registration.
Does he have to be done then before the SJAI will accept his registration?? That's a big b****r for your boy isn't it given his 'little' phobia.

Only thing to do is pop your horse down to vets so they can pass the scanner over him/her. That way you'll know if scanned (and they really shouldn't charge you to check for a chip). As said before, no local anaesthetic given (and they give exactly the same size chip to rabbits, parrots cats and dogs! a bit mean really when you see size of needle and chip!!) chip is inserted on crest of neck, about half way down.

really? They did local first years ago when I got the pony done for SJAI.
Mmmm..have pony being vetted on thursday, might see if he can scan him then, but the chances of getting a big sore needle in?.....
thanks, I'm assuming then BE does not make it compulsory.

ha! You may not have read prevoius posts, but he has fallen off the lorry, thrown himself around and generally been a bit of a prat for normal injections, last one didn't really get in because we couldn't get it in!
