Help - My horse has no mane!

My horse's mane has all been rubbed off by his neck covers and looks really pathetic. He's letting the 'Lusitanos with spectacular long flowing manes' side down dreadfully. I've not a clue how I'm going to plait it and it looks too pathetic to leave. Anyone know of any wonder cures, short of nicking some tail.

Unfortunately not, one of my horses that has high withers looses the bottom of her mane every year, its just a case of waiting for it grown back. If you were needing to go to a how and plait, you would need to make false plaits using the rest of the mane, or another horses same colour.
