My lovely new denim looky jodphurs shrunk ... I managed to squeeze into them last night - despite clammy hot weather and someone on the yard said 'ohhh I wish I looked that good in jodphurs' - which made me very happy! However, I could not move or bend at the waist or get on horse! Once on (mucho struggle and huffing and puffing) ... it was all too tight to do anything!

Must diet!!!

OK hun. Some of us oldies on here who are a bit challenged by the size of our jods will no doubt remember the Era of Denim, somewhere around the time of our rebellious youth phase around the 1970's, that sort of time, when skin-tight denim was supposed to be The Thing to Wear.

I can remember having a new pair of denims and then sitting in a cold bath to shrink them!!! We all did it back then, before this wonderful thing called lycra came along. Heh, you youngsters dunno how lucky you are! Denim was hell back then; if you couldn't squeeze your arse into it, you needed therapy.

The only thing I can suggest is that you do what we did; handwash your denim jods in mild detergent (not biological) and then go in the shower/bath or whatever, and then put the setting on lukewarm, and put 'em on!!! That way you should stretch them to fit. Dry them by hanging them up away from any heat, like on a washing line.

Good luck! LOL sometimes us oldies know a thing or two??

PiebaldPeril - Handwashing??? Showering?? What kind of advice is this? I think I'll donate them to someone skinnier than me!

Piebaldperil - did you also put your jeans in the bath and splatter them with bleach? I remember my older sister doing this, and also laying flat out on the bed to zip her skin tight jeans up.

I never did the bleach thing, but in my early teens I don't think there was any other way of getting jeans on other than lying down, and pulling until the belt loops broke!

haha and then doing the zip up with a coat hanger!! oh those were the days, your feet went blue from lack of circulation by the end of the day:eek::D:D

I'm sensing that some of you think I may have put weight on - rather than my jodphurs shrinking... hmffffff

My other lycra filled, stretchy jodphurs fit just fine and dandy thank you very much....

Right where'd I leave that cake......

As for the coat hanger jeans option - seem to remember, my much much older sister, having the same issues! Bleach in the bath ... eek! Poor parents! Seem to think my sister sewed on stupid badges onto her jeans. So glad I'm soooo much younger - hee hee

Umm, following on - there IS another solution for the OP and anyone else who feels gluteally challenged; if you don't wanna faff around with soaking in cold baths/fighting with clothes hangers etc etc, and its simple really ...... just make an appointment for a liposuction session!!! Aaaarrrrggghhh :0

ohhh, i wonder if they could take the fat from my belly and pump it into my boobs:confused::D:D
