This is my current horses diets
fast fibre, half cup full before soaking
mug off linseed
handful off hi fi unmolssed
yea sacc
naf general purpose supplement
magnitude for the mag ( bare foot)
now we know the land is lacking in copper and pretty much everything tbh as we had soil tests done and all horses were put on copper trition as per what vet said ( horses blood tested, low copper) mine are now kept on the same land as livery and fed the diets as stated, but on the chestnuts iv started to notice a tinge to their coats in places!! I think it's lack off copper or from what's gone on before and the fact the land is v low in copper I believe it is.
Few questions
copper trition worked for the other horses but took a long time to get their blood levels back up and some off mine being barefoot I'm worried what base it's mixed with as I can't find this info, glucose maybe?? If so I don't want that on a sugar free diet.
Can I feed pure copper?
Or do I need copper and zinc?
Is it ok to feed my general purpose supplement with added copper?
I haven't tested my horses but the next time the vet is out I'm going to blood test just a couple off mine to see copper levels but think I know the answer already.
But I'm worried about upseting other trace mins etc.
Anybody came up across this problem before?
